Elton John On the Mend After Double Knee Replacement

Elton John didn't get to pick up his Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special on January 15th because of what his people said was a knee injury. Now his husband David Furnish revealed that Elton decided to have both knees replaced.

John's first surgery was around the time of the Emmys and Furnish told Variety, “He’s walking brilliantly. Both his knees were bent so badly, but his left knee is now perfectly straight. His right knee is still bent so he’s going to have another surgery in April."

Furnish added that the 77-year-old Elton plans to ramp up his work after the second knee surgery, with the musical version of The Devil Wears Prada launching in London and the Tammy Faye Baker bio-musical, Tammy Faye, headed to Broadway.

As for the new studio album that Elton mentioned last November while inducting Bernie Taupin into the Rock Hall, Furnish said that "I don’t think you’re going to have to wait too long."

The next time we see Elton John will be when he and Bernie Taupin are honored with the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song and a tribute concert on PBS April 8th.
