Happy Birthday! David Coverdale

Born on this day in 1951, David Coverdale, the English singer best known for his work with Deep Purple (1973 - 1976) and Whitesnake (the band he founded in 1978), turns 72.

Coverdale also had a short-lived collaboration with Jimmy Page, Coverdale/Page, in 1993.

Four years ago, Coverdale was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple, giving one of the band's induction speeches.
