"Meeting the Beatles" in India...a New Film by Paul Saltzman, coming soon.

Meeting The Beatles in India, a film about the Fab Four's 1968 trip to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram in Rishikesh, will hold a Virtual World Premiere on September 9th.

By coincidence, Emmy-winning Canadian director Paul Saltzman was there with The Beatles in 1968 when he was 23. Although he didn't film them at the time, he did take photos. More than 40 of them are included in his movie, which is narrated by Morgan Freeman and executive produced by David Lynch, among others.

With the film, Saltzman attempts to add vital details and context to one of the major cultural events of the 20th century. He told us what this time meant for The Beatles a couple of years ago when the deluxe edition of his book The Beatles in Rishikesh was released. \

Below, check out archival footage in February 1968, when the Beatles travelled to Rishikesh in northern India to take part in a Transcendental Meditation (TM) training course at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Other celebrity meditators were musicians Donovan, Mike Love, Paul Horn, and actress Mia Farrow.
