Dallas Police Start Issuing Citations To Electric Scooter Riders

People either love em or hate em. Those dockless, electric scooters you see everywhere in and around downtown Dallas have been a source of consternation for shop owners who've tried to police the sidewalks themselves to no avail. According to the law, scooters have always been prohibited on sidewalks in Dallas, but police have shown a high tolerance for riders who avoid the streets... until now. Dallas Police have begun to issue citations to those who ride on the sidewalks and fines could reach up to $200. Some scooter riders say it's more dangerous to ride in the street alongside traffic, but as you'll see in the CBSDFW report below, some Deep Ellum shop owners have seen blood spilled on the sidewalks too.
